House Information

Lakewood is the perfect retreat for those looking for a private country setting, within easy driving distance of all that East Tennessee has to offer. It's just a 45 minute drive from I-75 or the Knoxville Airport, in the middle of the Cherokee National Forest near the North Carolina state line. The house overlooks the Little Tennessee River valley just below Chilhowee Dam, between Chilhowee and Tellico Lakes.

If you love to fish, this is your place! Going just one mile in either direction takes you to a different mountain lake, with easy access public boat ramps! Both lakes are regularly stocked with bass, trout, and other species. There's great fishing right off the banks of either lake. Launch your boat onto pristine Chilhowee Lake, and explore spectacular Abrams Creek inside the Smoke Mountains National Park. Boat down Tellico lake to the Tennessee River, and go upriver to Knoxville, or downriver ... all the way to the Gulf of Mexico if you want! Both lakes are perfect for sight-seeing or water skiing. The area is a motorcyclist paradise. There is paved access right to the Lakewood driveway. You can spend days riding on some of the country's most sought-after touring roads. Nearby Highway 129 to Deal's Gap and the Cherohala Skyway between Tellico Plains and Robbinsville, NC are magnificent byways. Plus there are miles of other scenic rides throughout the county such as Highway 165 between Vonore and Tellico Plains. Lakewood puts you right in the heart of where you want to be.

This quiet home in the country is perfect whether you are an avid sports person, or just want to sit and read your favorite book under our beautiful trees and listen to the sounds of forests and fields. There are great hiking trails within a few minutes drive. And, even as remote as this property is, it is still only 30 minutes from grocery stores, restaurants, and other conveniences in nearby Vonore or Tellico Plains.
